芭乐视频 Engineering Welcomes 7 New Faculty Members

David Burnett, PhD鈥
Assistant Professor鈥
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr. Burnett joins 芭乐视频 from across the country, bringing with him a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley. His teaching will focus on chip design, an area he sees as the future of electronics, with him leading graduate courses in the fall and undergraduate in the spring. Dr. Burnett hopes to recruit more students to the fields of Electrical and Computer Engineering and contribute to setting them up for an exciting technical career.
鈥淚 believe my greatest impact on the next generation of engineers will be in the classroom, which is why I鈥檓 excited to join a place with a reputation for excellent teaching,鈥 he says.

Liang Du, PhD
Associate Professor
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr. Du earned his PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology and has called Philadelphia home for the past eight years, during which he worked in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Temple University. He concentrates on electrical power and energy systems, including electrified transportation and renewable energy.
鈥淚鈥檝e been a longtime fan of 芭乐视频 and a firm admirer of its mission. 芭乐视频 Engineering has an outstanding team of faculty and staff, strong students, and active programs,鈥 he says. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to bring my expertise to help prepare future generations of students to become leaders in both community and technology.鈥

Gesse Roure, PhD
Assistant Professor
Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Roure earned his PhD from the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on the movement of particles and macromolecules in complex fluids. He is enthusiastic about joining 芭乐视频, where he will teach courses in thermofluids and mathematical/computational methods, helping students develop strong fundamentals and practical problem-solving skills to succeed in this new era of engineering.鈥

Deeksha Seth, PhD
Assistant Professor
Mechanical Engineering
A familiar face in the 芭乐视频 community, Dr. Seth began her journey at the College of Engineering seven years ago as an assistant teaching professor, after earning her PhD from Drexel University. Since then, she has made an impact in the mechanical engineering field and pedagogy, constructing robots, mentoring students and establishing partnerships with local museums and schools.
鈥淭his year, I鈥檓 looking forward to building more robots, refining the ones we already have, and getting them out to our partner sites to see them in action and study their impact,鈥 Dr. Seth says. 鈥淚 am also hoping to make my classes even more hands-on and project-based to give students richer real-world learning experiences.鈥

Leena Shevade, PhD
Assistant Teaching Professor
Sustainable Engineering
Dr. Shevade specializes in water resources, with an emphasis on the design and evaluation of stormwater green infrastructure. She received her PhD in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University and brings over 15 years of experience to 芭乐视频. Her teaching approach integrates systems thinking, and real-world problem-solving to prepare students to tackle today鈥檚 most pressing urban challenges.
鈥淚鈥檓 excited to join 芭乐视频 Engineering because of its deep commitment to the Augustinian values of truth, unity and love, and its focus on making meaningful change through engineering,鈥 she says. 鈥淚 look forward to collaborating with a community that shares my dedication to environmental stewardship, social responsibility and preparing the next generation of engineers to lead with empathy and purpose.鈥

Chuangchuang Sun, PhD
Assistant Professor
Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Sun previously served as an assistant professor at Mississippi State University and held postdoctoral positions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston University. He earned his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Ohio State University. Dr. Sun鈥檚 research focuses on control, optimization and reinforcement learning, with applications in robotics and space systems.
鈥淚 see exciting opportunities here at 芭乐视频 in research, teaching and service,鈥 says Dr. Sun. 鈥淚 hope to spark curiosity about fundamental science and applied engineering concepts, empowering students to make a meaningful impact through their work at 芭乐视频 and beyond.鈥

Ruiyang Qin, PhD
Assistant Professor
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Dr. Qin obtained his PhD from the University of Notre Dame in spring 2025. His research primarily focuses on in-memory computing, emerging semiconductor devices for machine learning acceleration, on-device learning and artificial intelligence for health care.
鈥淚 look forward to teaching effective classes and hope to inspire students to engage in engineering research,鈥 Dr. Qin says. 鈥淚 also hope to submit several research proposals on AI and emerging technologies.鈥
