Student Success Platform

Implementing New Student Success Platform
Student Success Platform Summary
This project is a continuation of an initiative derived from °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ’s Rooted. Restless. strategic plan.
Embedded in Aspiration 3, Building an Inclusive Community, is the charge to:
“Create a personalized holistic advising system built from an enhanced academic, financial and co-curricular information system and expand resources to provide differentiated academic and financial support to students so that they can fully benefit from the °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ experienceâ€
In October 2023, the University undertook the search for a replacement to the current Ellucian Advise system to support student success. A summit with more than 40 regular users of Advise was convened from which came a seven-person steering group. The group commissioned surveys of all faculty and staff who teach or advise students and interviewed eight vendors. In the final round, SLATE emerged as the clear winner for its usability, customizability, and affordability.
The group then interviewed nine implementation consultants to support the build and installation of the Student Success instance for °ÅÀÖÊÓƵ. The group settled on HCRC in part because of their award-winning portal design for the University of North Florida. In January, 2025, HCRC came to campus to conduct two days of discovery and kick off the project.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does this mean for the use of current advising systems like Advise and NolijLink?
Advise and NolijLink will be decommissioned on Sept. 15. After that date, all data from these systems will be either migrated into Slate or securely stored in a data retention center managed by University Technology Services.
Who will use this new Slate system?
All faculty, advisors (faculty and staff), and success staff who work with students will be able to use Slate for Student Success. Currently, our focus is on ensuring the accuracy of our undergraduate student data, and we will shift our attention to graduate student data later in the fall semester. More information about the Law School will be provided in the coming months.
Students will interact with the system via a student-facing portal in the next academic year.
What type of access do I have to Slate?
Given your role in working with students, you will be able to access the following tabs through the Slate for Student Success Portal. The table below outlines the views that you should be able to access. If you believe that your permissions need to be adjusted, please contact the Slate for Student Success technology team.

- Department Chairs: The Department List view is a feature that will be coming soon. On this list, you will be able to access all of the students within your majors, minors, and concentrations.
- College Deans:ÌýThe Department List view is available, and you will have access to view all of the students currently enrolled within your college. Please note that this list may take several seconds to load, given the number of students within the college.
