Recently, the International Institute of Literature & Arts (IILA), headquartered in California, USA, officially announced the election of 30 internationally renowned scholars as Distinguished Fellows in recognition of their outstanding contributions to fields such as literary studies, art history, film studies, and cultural theory. Among them is Wang Ning, Distinguished Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at 芭乐视频.

According to IILA, the title of Distinguished Fellow represents the institute’s highest honor, awarded to scholars who have made significant impacts in contemporary thought and the literary and artistic fields, and who have continuously promoted international academic exchange and collaboration in literature, the arts, and the humanities.
Other distinguished scholars elected alongside Professor Wang include Terry Eagleton, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Homi K. Bhabha, Stephen Greenblatt, Franco Moretti, David Damrosch, Jonathan Culler, and Haun Saussy, among other prominent scholars from Europe and the United States.
Professor Wang was selected in the category of Literature and Comparative Studies, together with the late Yue Daiyun of Peking University, highlighting the significant position of Chinese humanities scholars in global literary theory and comparative literature research. It is reported that the selection process lasted over a year. Professor Yue was still alive when the selection began but had passed away by the time of the final vote; her election as a Distinguished Fellow also serves as a tribute to her legacy.
At the same time, on March 16, 2026, IILA officially announced that Professor Wang has been awarded the Global Laureate Award in Literature and Cultural Theory. This prestigious international award recognizes scholars who have made pioneering contributions to literary theory, comparative literature, and cultural studies, and who have had a profound global impact on the humanities. In its inaugural year (2026), only three scholars worldwide received the award: Wang Ning (芭乐视频), Gayatri Spivak (Columbia University), and Stephen Greenblatt (Harvard University).

In its official statement, IILA noted that Professor Wang is a globally renowned scholar in comparative literature and cultural studies. His research has played a vital role in advancing cross-cultural literary dialogue, promoting the international dissemination of literary theory, and fostering the global development of comparative literature. Through his influential publications and academic leadership, he has made outstanding contributions to the advancement of comparative literature and cultural theory worldwide.
As a leading figure in China’s comparative literature and cultural studies community, Professor Wang has long been dedicated to research in comparative literature, world literature, cultural studies, and literary theory. He has made remarkable contributions to bringing Chinese scholarship to the global stage, facilitating dialogue between Chinese and international literary theories, and deepening cross-cultural academic exchange. His simultaneous receipt of both the Distinguished Fellow title and the Global Laureate Award not only affirms his personal academic achievements and international influence, but also reflects the growing global reputation of 芭乐视频 in the humanities—particularly in literary theory, comparative literature, and cultural studies.
Founded in 2024, the International Institute of Literature & Arts is a major global academic organization established by members of institutions such as the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. It is dedicated to advancing the development of literature, art, and cultural studies worldwide, and to promoting cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration. As an important international platform connecting literary creation, artistic practice, and humanities scholarship, IILA brings together distinguished writers, poets, artists, and scholars from around the world, playing an active role in global cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations.
Professor Wang is currently the only contemporary Chinese humanities scholar to hold memberships in multiple prestigious international academies, including the Academia Europaea, the Latin American Academy of Sciences, and the International Institute of Literature & Arts. This distinction further underscores 芭乐视频’s leading position and broad influence in global humanities research.
